Overview

Cyberpunk Conspiracy is a narrative project and experimental site. We collect the minimum data needed to run the site, protect it from bots/abuse, and understand high‑level engagement. We avoid hardware/device fingerprinting and do not log raw keystrokes or precise coordinates.

What we collect

  • Essential HTTP data (always): IP address (transient in server logs), user agent, pages requested, and timestamps—standard web server logs for security and diagnostics.
  • Optional security telemetry (only if you enable it on the entry overlay or in settings): coarse interaction statistics within a 30‑minute window, such as total focused time, counts of clicks, scroll bursts, and bucketed typing rhythm (fast/medium/slow), plus a random device token stored in your browser.
The random token lets the system recognize repeat visits from the same device. This creates a very limited sense of “identity” — enough to distinguish between a single person returning versus many automated scripts. It is not linked to your name, account, or activity outside this site, and it resets if you clear your browser data. The purpose is solely to strengthen bot prevention and maintain continuity within this story experience.
We do not collect raw text you type, exact x/y coordinates, motion sensors, or hardware fingerprints. Telemetry is for bot/abuse detection and session continuity only.
  • Local storage: a random 128‑bit device token (e.g., cpc_device_token_v1) and your consents (audio / telemetry). Clearing site data resets these.

Why we collect it

  • Deliver core site functionality and media (legitimate interest / necessary for service).
  • Prevent spam, fraud, and automated abuse through aggregate security telemetry (if enabled).
  • Measure high‑level engagement (e.g., anonymous counts of interactions and time‑on‑page).

How telemetry works (if enabled)

When you opt‑in on the entry overlay, the site starts a 30‑minute “window” that periodically sends a small JSON payload (~<1KB) using sendBeacon. The payload contains:

  • Random device token (opaque, generated client‑side)
  • Anonymous session ID
  • Window start time and elapsed milliseconds
  • Coarse counts: focused time, clicks, scroll bursts, and bucketed typing rhythm

There is no collection of raw text, precise cursor coordinates, fonts, canvas, WebGL, or other fingerprinting vectors. You can toggle telemetry off at any time from the entry overlay (or by clearing site data).

Legal bases

  • Service delivery: necessary to operate the website (e.g., server logs).
  • Legitimate interest: security, fraud prevention, and anti‑abuse.
  • Consent: optional telemetry and audio playback are opt‑in or adjustable on the overlay.

Storage & retention

  • Server logs: short retention for security/diagnostics (typically days to a few weeks).
  • Telemetry (if enabled): stored as coarse statistics; we avoid raw event streams. Aggregates may be retained for analytics and anti‑abuse tuning; per‑window records are pruned on a rolling basis.
  • Local storage on your device: consent flags and a random device token (you can clear any time).

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We may use infrastructure providers (hosting, CDN, logging) to run the site. Those providers process data on our behalf under appropriate terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

Cookies & local storage

The site uses browser storage for the minimal values noted above (consent flags and an opaque device token). You can disable or clear these in your browser settings; features like audio preference or telemetry opt‑in may reset.

Your choices

  • Telemetry toggle: enable/disable on the entry overlay at any time.
  • Clear local data: remove stored token/consents via your browser site settings.
  • Do Not Track: we treat telemetry as security/anti‑abuse when enabled; we do not use it for cross‑site marketing.
  • Access/erasure: contact us with your device token if you want us to remove associated server‑side telemetry aggregates.
